Essay Topic is Not Stay on Topic

Essay Topic is Not Stay on TopicOne of the biggest misconceptions about writing an essay is that you need to stay on topic. This is completely wrong. You can have a very powerful thesis if you want, but you don't need to fall into a niche for it. Let's look at why this is so.When you write a thesis, you are likely to be far more focused on it than you ever will on the subject of your essay. However, when you write an essay, you are much more likely to drift off topic. This happens, of course, because you are much more relaxed while doing it. However, this doesn't mean that you need to write all of your thoughts as if they were a thesis statement. It is so easy to fall into a niche when you are working on your paper, so why do it? To start with, it is much easier to feel right in a topic than it is to feel comfortable in one. If you are reading about basketball, it is easy to get pulled away from your paper and fix the game you are reading about. However, when you are writing it is muc h harder to get that impulse because you are more relaxed. This is important, because you are more likely to be surprised by things you learn when you are on topic. You may read that Kurt Russell was on drugs when he was younger, and that can make him a totally different actor! However, this may not have happened if you had stayed in your topic for your essay. You may have done something that went against what you wrote about in your essay, and then you would have had to write about it on your own time. Now, this doesn't mean that you need to stay on topic. In fact, you can fall off topic when you are trying to make a point that you want to make. Thisis often the case with article writers who don't know how to structure their articles properly. They aren't sure which point to make and so they drift off topic and stop making any points. In this case, they may end up talking about something unrelated to the article, which may not be what they were actually trying to accomplish. Here is a nother reason why you should not stay on topic. If you find a topic that is interesting to you, you can often just go deeper into it and write more about it. You can take that interesting topic and turn it into a piece of art. When you are looking for ideas for a great essay, remember that you can jump in and out of that topic all day long. The key is to make sure that you make a good connection with the theme of the essay. If you aren't interested in anything, or you aren't writing about the topic in a way that is relevant to the essay, you won't get a whole lot of mileage out of it.Remember, you are not supposed to write on a topic in an essay. It is easy to fall into this trap and just write about something you are interested in. However, you have to make sure that the entire essay is relevant and worthwhile. Without this balance, you won't be able to pull off a very powerful thesis for your essay.
